- Within the village of Cristo Rey, there are several changeling factors that have a direct impact on education development because of the lack of internet and library access availability that is affordable or in some cases nonexistent because of the fact that there is no electricity where some villagers live within the community. Access to the Internet and library resources are fundamental to achieving the project vision for the future, which can improve the quality of education in many ways. It opens doorways to a wealth of information, knowledge and educational resources, increasing opportunities for learning in and beyond the classroom. The lack of recreational opportunities availability for youths within the community is also a factor that needs to be addressed to promote identity development, positive social relationships, and learning conflict resolution, academic success, mental health, and civic engagement. There is also the lack of access to confidential counselling services provided within the community which is a concern that many villagers would like to see happen to assist with holistic development and empowerment of vulnerable children and youth at a community level.

- This project will:- Supply the supports, opportunities, programs, equipment and services to increase educational development and positive recreational activities within the community.- Contribute to reducing juvenile delinquency and increase positive behaviors and attitudes physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually through education, sports and counselling.- Maintain at a very low cost, a recovery fee for the use of internet access, electricity and printing to ensure sustainability of the Cristo Rey Youth Center.- Create a non-formal learning and recreational environment accessible to children, at risk youths and community members within the community of Cristo Rey.

- Cristo Rey Village is a community of approximately 950 inhabitants which is located 3.5 miles on the Mountain Pine Ridge Road in the Cayo District of Belize. The community boasts of being one of the most cleanest community in the area as much attention is placed on the environment. About 80% of the villagers call themselves Christians and proof of this is the six different churches who become very active on a Tuesday to Sunday basis.Each of these churches have their own youth group who are very supportive to the village council and the Cristo Rey Youth Group when it comes to cleaning of the community. There are six resorts around the village that assist the youth group and village council with these cleanup campaigns with trash bags, water for the youths to drink on the campaign and at times even with the disposal of the garbage and in any way that they can assist. Our plan is to engage the young people who are the future of our country by inspiring and motivating them through learning, fun recreational sporting activities and support counselling program at a community level through the creation of the youth center. We also plan to engage the entire family in fun recreational activities such as the Cristo Rey Chef Day, Cristo Rey River Fest, movie night where the entire family can come out enjoy and have fun. We also try to inspire the community members by organizing and executing through the village council and the youth group, free pet clinic day, free hair cut day, free rabies vaccination clinic to encourage members of the community to be a part of this positive movement. We work in hope and faith that this will as a result build stronger families and communities.

- This proposal plans to maintain at a very low cost, a recovery fee for the use of internet access, electricity and printing to ensure sustainability of the Youth Center. There is no business model at this time as such however discussion on how much to print a paper will cost and use of internet per hour was discussed by the group and it was a very low cost that is much lower than other areas that provide internet services in the town nearby.
